  • 1.  365 Template issues

    Posted 02-09-2023 10:33

I've had a support ticket(s) in for almost a month with no solution and very little communication. I'm not sure what else to do. All tickets have been 'escalated'. This all started beginning of January. So I'm wondering if others are having any issues similar to mine (or I'm just the crazy one! lol). If so, do you have any solutions? I'm just trying to get somewhere...anywhere with this. It's frustrating. If there was continuous communication regarding this issue I could at least understand the issues where being addressed. Crickets...

    Issues:

     - Templates renaming as other template names when saving (thus other templates data is saved and original template must be pulled from archive history, reuploaded, and possibly any updates could be lost)

     - All excel files (local or Vena) crash when I open a Vena template. This happens randomly, but often enough (usually daily or more). I have saved all my 'recovered documents' to show when this has all happened.

     - V365 issues with wildcard mapping. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I now know the work around, but...

     - V365 Connect menu goes blank. Again randomly, but have noticed the last few times it goes blank after I click the 'Choose' button.

     - I've had to uninstall/re-install the V365 add-in because a Vena Template was no longer able to open. I have the exact language somewhere, but this was crazy. Followed the Vena Knowledge base article to fix.

    I appreciate anyone's feedback.

    Thanks!

    Carrie

V365 issues with wildcard mapping - work arounds...just received notice of a second work around, so thought I'd share in case it will help anyone else.1. Open template in the excel add-in (click on the 3 dots and select this option) This is if you have V365 enabled for the process you are working in.

    2. 'There is a workaround to this issue – if you switch sheets and then come back to the original sheet you were mapping on, wildcard mapping should work.
Not ideal, but this will help unblock the user until we figure out the root cause/solution.'  (I haven't tried this yet, but will the next time it happens. This would at least help avoid having to close out the of 365 version and into the desktop add-in version.)

    Hi Claire

I have had the same issue that you have itemised, "All excel files (local or Vena) crash when I open a Vena template. This happens randomly, but often enough (usually daily or more). I have saved all my 'recovered documents' to show when this has all happened." on a reasonably regular basis. Usual when I have multiple templates open. I have raised tickets on this in the past and have had no satisfactory solution, it is annoying. I would be interested in hearing if others have experienced these issues as we could then push the issue back to vena.

    Hi Carrie,

Regarding the wildcard mapping, I found this works for me when following steps below. I am not sure if this solves the issue you are having, but hope it can help.

    1. Select the areas which already have row/column mapping
    2. Click the row/column mapping in the V365 Connect pane, this will highlight the mapped area (usually in blue) and identify which block the mapping is in
    3. Then select the dimension where you need to use wild card mapping, then map FV dimension members

So far we haven't experienced these issues above. It would be good to hear the solutions of those issues in case we run into these in the future.
